Ambulance 54 Debuts at Bristol

It's Bristol Baby! Once again, WCLSC is standing by at the races this weekend. Katie Mattox and Jill South are braving the crowds and sun to help out with EMS on the track. Keep an eye out for ambulance 54, as it will be standing by on turn 4.

Truck into House

In the early morning on Friday, WCLSC was alerted to a call on the 17000 block of Black Hollow Road. The caller stated that someone had run into his home with their vehicle. Upon arrival, crews found 1 patient with minor injuries and did not need transport to the hospital. Fortunately, no one in the home was hurt. Extrication Demostration for EMT Class

Today, WCLSC was asked to do an extrication demonstration for the current EMT class at VHCC, MECC and SWCC. WCLSC and Med-Flight II participated in the event prior to the students final testing today. WCLSC demonstrated the techniques involved in extrication, scene size-up and patient care.

Virginia Auto Dealers Association Donates Training Manikins

This evening was a special evening for members of WCLSC. Colin Royster of the Virginia Automobile Dealers Association and Delegate Todd Pillion and Ryan Mathesius of Blue Ridge Auto Group, presented four CPR training manikins to the crew, on behalf of the National Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation (NADA) and Virginia Automobile Dealers Association (VADA). Members Train for Trauma

This past weekend, members Chris Sturgill, Josh Mattox and Christie Groover, spent their weekend at the SouthWest Virginia EMS Council, taking a two day course in trauma. PHTLS (Pre Hospital Trauma Life Support) is an internationally recognized and taught course, that specifically teaches the best techniques and treatments for EMS providers when treating trauma victims.
